Turkey bears a “moral and legal responsibility” to cooperate on the issue of missing persons and to provide the necessary information and access to burial sites in Cyprus' Turkish-occupied territories, said the Head of Humanitarian Affairs of Missing and Enclaved Persons, Anna Aristotelous, in her opening remarks at a conference, in Nicosia, on Saturday, on the issue of missing persons in relation to the 2001 decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on the 4th Interstate Case Cyprus v. Turkey and its non-implementation. Other speakers at the event also highlighted the need to exert pressure on Ankara, and to expedite the work of the Committee on Missing Persons.
