There is no connection so far between Monday's incident, in which two shipwrecked people and seven bodies were found, and Sunday's incident, when the NGO 'Alarm Phone' alerted the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) about people in distress at sea, the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, the Ministry of Defence and the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection said in a joint statement on Thursday, citing three recent search and rescue incidents. "We categorically deny that there was any shooting or water throwing or pushback," they underline for the third incident in an area bordering Lebanon, while calling it "unacceptable" for the Republic of Cyprus to be accused of human rights violations.
