TWIN2SUSTAIN Online Webinar on Interdisciplinary Research
Practical approaches to starting and deepening interdisciplinary research collaborations with Dr Vincent Bellinkx from the University of Antwerp
The TWIN2SUSTAIN – Twinning for Research Excellence in Sustainable Development project, coordinated by the University of Cyprus, is organising an online Lunch Webinar entitled “How to Start and Deepen Interdisciplinary Research” on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, from 13:00 to 14:30 Cyprus time (12:00–13:30 CEST).
The webinar will be delivered by Dr Vincent Bellinkx from the University of Antwerp, a partner institution of the TWIN2SUSTAIN project.
Interdisciplinary research is becoming increasingly important in addressing complex societal, economic and environmental challenges that cannot be effectively tackled through the perspective of a single discipline alone.
During the webinar, Dr Bellinkx will introduce the fundamentals of interdisciplinary research and, drawing on practical examples and real-life experiences from different scientific domains, will explore how researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds can initiate, develop and deepen meaningful interdisciplinary collaborations.
Particular attention will be given to the practical steps involved in starting and facilitating interdisciplinary research, the challenges commonly encountered in such collaborations, and the added value that can emerge from bringing together different disciplinary perspectives, approaches and expertise.
The webinar is addressed primarily to academic staff, researchers and Early Career Researchers, while anyone with an interest in interdisciplinary research is also welcome to participate.
Participation is online via Microsoft Teams, and the webinar will be delivered in English.
