The EU, through its Polish representative, expressed “disappointment” at the UN General Assembly Plenary for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Resolution, regarding references to Cyprus in the OIC’s 2025 action plan. The EU emphasised that “the provisions in the OIC’s 2025 program concerning Cyprus do not align with relevant Security Council resolutions, especially Resolutions 541 and 550 and called on the OIC “to refrain from exploiting its status at the UN General Assembly to promote an illegal separatist entity and urged the organization to avoid adopting positions undermining international law, the UN Charter, and the efforts of the UN Secretary-General for resolving the Cyprus issue based on agreed principles outlined in relevant Security Council resolutions”.
